All-optical signal processing using ultra-long SOAs

Abstract

The fast switching effects in a long SOA can be used to generate complementary pulses, which suppresses the pattern dependent carrier density fluctuations to overcome the speed limit of the conventional SOA, allowing new switching architectures.
