Abstract
Self-organised quantum dots (QDs) grown in the Stranski-Krastanov growth mode (1-3) enable novel photonic devices like edge and surface emitting lasers, or amplifiers with dramatically improved properties and show potential for single photon emitters for quantum cryptography (4).
