Cancellation of Non-Linear Patterning in Semiconductor Amplifier Based Switches

Abstract

We describe a new method for all-optical wavelength conversion using self-gain modulation in two semiconductor optical amplifiers. This new configuration gives higher-speed operation with low patterning impairments. Error-free performance at 170.4Gbit/s is demonstrated.
