Design and characterization of complementary Gaussian reflectivity mirrors

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Reflectors with a Gaussian reflectivity profile can be used to reduce the detrimental effects of edge diffraction in unstable optical resonators. Efficient energy extraction can then be obtained only if the energy which is not reflected by the mirror is recovered as useful output.
