Phase conjugate holographic filtering using nematic LD films

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Thin films of nematic liquid crystals (MBBA) were made and used as a real-time medium. This medium was used in a coherent optical system designed to perform degenerate four-wave mixing phase conjugate correlations. An input resolution target was correlated and cross-correlated against itself. Phase conjugate signals and the correlations obtained are results presented. Characteristics of the MBBA thin films as well as the resolution limits achieved are discussed.
