Abstract

An effective algorithm for calculating the extended discrete Fourier spectrum for bandlimited data has been developed that has modest computer time and memory requirements. It is thus suited for the practical processing of large (16K points or greater) experimental data sets. This algorithm is an iterative procedure for numerically solving the set of nonlinear equations resulting from application of the minimum-negativity constraint (a variation of the positivity constraint) to bandlimited data. The theoretical development leading to the nonlinear equations was derived earlier by the author.1
