Polynomial fitting to an aberrated wavefront by the method of averages with minimum error

Abstract

For analyzing a Twyman-Green interferogram coming from an axially symmetric system, we use the method of the averages. Together with this technique we developed a method of minimizing the propagated error in the calculation of the polynomial fitting coefficients by finding the points of the domain that yield error weighting functions of minimum value.
