Abstract

Considerable interest has been expressed in the use of optical matrix-vector multipliers. The accuracy of these processors is limited by sources of deterministic and random error. We measure both the component and system noise levels associated with various implementations. These are compared with earlier theoretical calculations. We then use these results to determine the accuracy limits of the processors.
