Abstract
Laser coupling is one method for developing high-brightness output from individual laser modules. To achieve good quality, high-brightness power extraction from an array of coupled lasers, the outcoupled beams should be mutually coherent and ideally equal in amplitude and in phase at the far field. An important practical consideration in the operation of an array is that the peak far-field intensity should be insensitive to fluctuations in the resonator lengths and the length of the coupling paths. For multimode systems, these requirements should be satisfied for all the lasing modes of the system.
