Dependence of speckle statistics of SAR images of rough surfaces on temporal cross-section fluctuations

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This paper presents a study on the statistical properties of speckle in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images of rough surfaces that produce random temporal fluctuations in the backscattered field. The autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions of speckle intensity in single-look and multilook imagery are expressed in terms of the SAR system parameters and the temporal autocorrelation function of the backscattered field.
