Abstract
Triple correlation techniques (also called speckle masking) can be used to image through turbulence to the diffraction limit of the optical system. The usual procedure is to compute the spectrum of the object from the average bispectrum of the image, where the bispectrum is the Fourier transform of the triple correlation. In practice, however, it is not possible to compute the whole bispectrum as it is a 4-D function. Knowledge of the SNR of the bispectrum is useful for selecting those parts of the bispectrum which are to be calculated and for optimizing the reconstruction algorithm.
