Abstract
A comprehensive collection of the properties of more than 100 materials useful in IR instrumentation has been prepared for a forthcoming handbook of IR optical materials. Existing sources of data, such as the standard handbooks and other compilations, have been liberally consulted. Current and recent journals have been searched. The data are presented in convenient form for rapid location by the user. Additionally, this presentation highlights gaps in the available data, which are of special interest and importance for the newer materials. For many properties, graphs and bar charts provide a ready comparison among competing materials. Data are ordinarily given for room temperature and sometimes for 77 K. Broader variations of properties with temperature are included when available and pertinent.
