Absorption and scattering by heterogeneous particles

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Many particles of great interest contain particulate inclusions, which leads to the question of how to estimate the absorption and scattering by such complex bodies. We are developing a new model which utilizes a Monte Carlo algorithm for calculating the absorption and scattering of electromagnetic radiation by a particle containing inclusions which in turn absorb and scatter light.
