High-order cyclo-Raman excitation of a single electron by a laser

Abstract

It was shown by one of the authors earlier1 that the multiphoton excitation of a free cyclotron electron can be induced by two laser beams with their frequencies ω1, and ω2 being much higher than a cyclotron frequency Ωc and differing either by (three-photon resonance) or 2Ωc (four-photon resonance). These excitations give rise to what we call cyclo-Raman scattering of laser light (of the first and second orders, respectively). Here we consider the feasibility of even higher-order cyclo-Raman excitations of an electron by laser radiation with frequencies ω1, and ω2 so that ω1, − ω2nΩc, where n is an arbitrary integer.
