One-way complex optical field imaging through a distorting medium by conventional holography: theory and experiments

Abstract

The use of a holographic (or phase conjugate) double-pass scheme1 in image transmission applications is limited by the fact that image sending and receiving processes have to be done on the same side of the distortion. Using a phase conjugate window (PCW) one can achieve one-way complex field imaging through a thin distorting medium with no distortion.2 The effectiveness of this approach, however, is restricted by the phase mismatch between the two pump beams since the image-bearing beam is used as one of two pump beams.
