Abstract
Optical memory disk technology can have powerful applications in optical image processing and optical computing if 2-D imaging of the disk is performed. By area modulation of the serially written bits (pits) on the optical disk, 2-D analog (grey scale) images can be obtained. The resolution of presently available written optical disk media is the few micrometer range with storage capacities of the order of 108 bits/cm2.
