Abstract
Circuits for generating picosecond transition time electrical signals have many applications in wide bandwidth instrumentation and communication systems. The fastest signals have often been generated optically, but nonlinear wave propagation has made an all electronic system just as fast. We have measured a 6 Volt, 1.6 ps falltime shock-wave signal generated on a GaAs Nonlinear Transmission Line (NLTL) having Schottky diodes with a hyperabrupt doping profile.
