Characterization studies of the Los Alamos Fourier transform spectrometer

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have conducted characterization studies of the Los Alamos Fourier transform spectrometer to determine its resolution, spectral range, and noise characteristics. These studies show that we have achieved the theoretical resolution limit of 0.0026 cm−1 with a spectral coverage of >14 μm to <210 nm. The precision of the servo system for mirror movement is <1/1000 of a fringe (632.8 nm). Wavelength and intensity accuracy are discussed as well as the SNR for the various experiments.
