Abstract
Acoustooptic hybrid bistable devices have been studied previously. However, no actual comparison and correlation have been made between experimental results and theoretical predictions. We first present a model for the nonlinear device. The model includes the theory of acoustooptic diffraction in the near-Bragg regime in which the Klein-Cook Bragg parameter Q is finite.1 Computer simulations will then be shown in which it suggests that the performance of the bistable device using a low Q acoustooptic device can be improved by adjusting the feedback gain. Finally, we present experimental results which confirm the validity of the theoretical model.
