Polarization-sensitive coatings for optical devices

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The columnar structure associated with conventionally deposited thin films has been extensively documented. The columns resulting from normal-incidence evaporation are oriented normal to the substrate, and the main optical effects on normal-incidence illumination are a reduction of refractive index and film inhomogeneity.
