Real time deformable mirror joint transform correlator

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A real time joint transform correlator system implemented using deformable mirror device (DMD) spatial light modulators is described. The system uses a 128 × 128 element line addressed DMD light modulator to input images at both stages of a standard joint transform architecture. The DMD light modulators are electrically addressed at video frame rates and are driven directly by CCD video camera. One of these cameras provides the square law detection at the output of the first stage of the system that is critical for joint transform correlation operation. Electronic interface circuitry between the two stages of the system provides for the comparison of various binarization and thresholding schemes on the joint transform intensity fringe structures.
