Abstract
The performance of optical thin film filters often deviates from design. These deviations are typically caused by the manufacturing process and are attributed to errors and nonuniformities in layer thickness and refractive index. The design performance is also affected by variations in the filter's environment. A computer program for thin film coating design has been enhanced to model the effect of temperature variations on the filter's characteristics as well as to provide optimized designs with a desired temperature performance.
