Abstract

Future broadband integrated services digital networks (BISDN) will use asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) techniques to achieve flexible routing and multiplexing of multiple-bit-rate data streams. A critical element of such broadband networks is a large capacity (≥ 50-Gbit/s) packet switch.
