Theoretical model for a hybrid laser

Abstract

Hybrid lasers have been proposed in the past to obtain a single-mode output from high gain and high pressure lasers which otherwise would present intensity fluctuations because of the large number of longitudinal modes whose gain exceeds the losses. Even if partially successful, the experimental results showed poor control of the output and had to rely on empirical relations between the gain of the low and high pressure systems and delay times between the discharge of the relative sections in order to obtain a single-mode output intensity.
