Abstract

Photorefractive strontium barium niobate (SrxBa1-xNb2O6 or SBN) is an attractive material for photorefractive applications because of its large r33 electrooptic coefficient. One attractive feature of the tungsten bronze structure of SBN is the large number of vacant lattice sites which can be occupied by dopants to provide a high density of photorefractive charge carriers.
