Refractive-index distribution within the crystalline lens of the rock bass and its variation with age

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

It has been postulated that the refractive- index distribution within the crystalline lens of the eye of the fish contains a core of constant refractive index. However, Campbell and Sands have shown that this would be inconsistent with the excellent image quality of the lens in the eye of a visual species of fish.
