Spot detection in the optical-correlation plane

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Recently, much attention has been devoted to optical correlation as a means to solve a two-dimensional object-recognition problem. Although simulation studies of such an approach demonstrated high signal-to-noise characteristics for correlation images (output signals), actual optical-correlation signals display noise characteristics that accentuate the task of locating correlation spots.
