Abstract

Image-edge enhancement has been demonstrated with photorefractive crystals and optically addressed spatial light modulators (OASLMs) with nematic liquid crystals.1,2 These methods used devices that operate with 10–100 ms response times. We report analysis and experimental results of the edge enhancement of images by means of an amorphous silicon/ferroelectric liquid-crystal OASLM.
