Curvature is an independent feature in visual search

Abstract

Some searches for targets among distractors are performed with reaction times (RT’s) independent of set size. Such parallel searches are made possible by modules that process features across the visual field. If parallel processes cannot perform the task, the search is serial, with RT increasing linearly with set size and with blank trial slopes twice the target trial slopes. Few features support a parallel search (e.g., color, orientation). Is curvature such a feature?
