Abstract

Two of the important features in neural computing are adaptation to a changeable environment and recognition of unknown objects. Kohonon's model is one of the simplest self-organizing algorithms,1 which is capable of performing statistical pattern recognition and classification. This model is modified and combined with several matching criteria that we have developed.
