Abstract
We demonstrate the first acoustically-tuned fiber ring laser. A two-stage integrated acousto-optic filter is the wavelength-selective intracavity element, providing continuous tunability over 40 nm and frequency-shift-free filtering for narrow linewidth operation. Such a laser is compact, can be tuned in microseconds, and has the potential for multi-wavelength lasing when an appropriate gain medium is used.
