Review of two-mirror unobstructed telescopes

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In this paper a parametric analysis of two-mirror unobstructed telescope configurations is presented. The aberrations of these simple systems and the conditions for their absence are discussed. The telescope configurations developed by the amateur telescope maker are reviewed, and other more elaborate interesting configurations are discussed. The review emphasizes the difficulties encountered in making the optics. A fabrication technique to generate the aspheric surfaces required is discussed.
