Tilt sensor based on the dispersion of two media interface

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A new physical principle and configuration for a sensitive miniature optical-tilt sensor is proposed. The experimentally measured threshold sensitivity of the sensor is 2 × 10–7 radians with a range of linear response up to 10-3 radians. The possibility of a Hartmann wave-front sensor creation, based on the proposed device, is discussed.
