A photorefractive model of second-harmonic generation in glass fibers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A photorefractive model of the efficient second-harmonic generation of light in single-mode glass optical fibers is presented. In this model the photoinduced charge redistribution gives rise to an internal dc electric field, which acts on the χ(3) of the glass, resulting in an effective χ(2) Phase matching is due to the interference of the radiation-driven field and the second-harmonic field.
