Changes in coherence and spectral properties of light reflected from a dielectric slab

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have studied the changes in the spectrum and in the degree of coherence of light reflected from a stratified medium. The incident field was assumed to be produced by a planar, secondary, partially-coherent source. We analyzed reflection from a homogeneous dielectric slab in detail the case in which the incident field is produced by a Gaussian, Schell-model source. We will present results of numerical calculations for several representative values of the parameters. We found drastic changes in the spectrum and in the degree of coherence in some cases.
