Propagation of solitons in a nonlinear loop mirror

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Solitonlike pulses traveling through a nonlinear loop mirror (NOLM) have shown behavior significantly different than that on nonsoliton pulses. In addition, these devices have been used to passively mode-lock fiber lasers operating in the soliton forming wavelength range. For this reason it is necessary to have a clear picture of how the NOLM responds for different input conditions and loop lengths.
