Abstract
A new smart pixel technology is demonstrated using the DOES device technology. The pixel performs the optical or electrical inversion function and is configured to be extendible to any complexity of electronic logic. The circuit uses the DOES for the optical output emission and the electronic output in its three terminal configuration. The third termina is controlled by the output current of an HFET/BICFET photodetector providing excellent optical and electrical I/O isolation. The pixel incorporates two HFETs as load devices for the DOES and the detector.
