Multiobject correlation using a joint Fourier transform correlator

Abstract

A joint Fourier transform correlator1 has been found to be reasonably successful in noise-free single target detection. One of the recent studies2 has already considered the effects of fringe binarization of multiobject correlation when the objects were all positioned along a horizontal axis. Our current work extends the scope of Ref. 2 by studying the effects of fringe binarization when multiple objects are arbitrarily introduced into the input scene. Furthermore, both in-class and out-of-class recognition is studied simultaneously for quantifying the degree of correlation discrimination.
