Abstract

We present a full numerical solution of phase conjugation of pulses in photorefractive media by four-wave mixing, solving the linearized Kukhtarev equations.1 The procedure avoids analytical reflectivity and its complexity as a required intermediate step by directly producing final data, in either the stable and unstable regimen.1 We compare our conjugated pulse solutions with the analytical cases available,1 and display additional information such as the spatial and temporal behavior of the space-charge field inside the conjugator, the transmitted pulse, and the reflectivity that plays now such an informative role. The results agree with the theoretical and experimental results of earlier work and corroborate some predictions2 concerning multiple internal reflections.
