Optical transfer function of silica multicore image fibers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In silica multicore image fibers the coupling among the element fibers is significant. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a model that takes the coupling effect into account. We present a model valid for these image fibers. The results of this model are compared with the experimental measurement. It is shown that this model is more accurate than the model without considering the coupling among the element fibers. From the discrete assumption about the input and output space, the optical transfer function of 1-D and 2-D silica multicore image fibers is derived systematically.
