Abstract

Optical computing is attractive because of the inherent parallelism of the optical processors. A fully digital optical computer, however, faces many obstacles in its implementation in the near future due to the lack of basic devices that can replace their electronic counterparts. On the other hand, hybrid optoelectronic processors are easier to implement.
