Abstract

In previous publications1,2 we derived an expression for the spectral radiance of fields generated by any planar, secondary, quasi-homogeneous source. In the present paper we carry out the analysis further and derive expressions, valid in the short wavelength limit, for the spectral density and for the energy flux vector at an arbitrary point in such fields. These formulas show clearly the contributions to these quantities made by the spectral density and by the degree of coherence of the source. We illustrate the results by examples.
