Zero-phonon lines in the luminescence spectra of ZnWO4 and electron–phonon interactions

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The photoluminescence spectra of ZnWO4 in the near infrared region were obtained in the temperature range from 10 to 400 K. Zero-phonon lines and phonon replicas were observed. The temperature dependences of the shapes, widths, positions, and intensities of the zero-phonon lines in the infrared emission band of ZnWO4 single crystals were investigated experimentally. The results obtained are discussed in terms of the theory of electron–phonon interactions in impurity crystals. Anharmonic effects of the crystal vibrations are discussed.
