Abstract
Very high resolution (0.004 cm–1) solar spectra near 3000 cm 1 have been collected from the ground at Mauna Loa, Hawaii, and Denver, Colorado. The R(1) line of the H35Cl (1–0) vibration- rotation band at 2925.9 cm–1 is included in these spectra. A non-linear least squares program has been used to analyze the HCI feature for column abundance. Although this program does not directly determine the vertical distribution of HCI, the tropospheric mixing ratio of HCI must be substantially reduced from the standard profile in order to accurately fit the line.
