Large-aperture single-transverse-mode-vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers

Abstract

We report a novel buried-heterostructure vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) which emits the fundamental mode with aperture as large as 16μm in diameter and has a low threshold current of 1.2 mA.
