Abstract

Using a commercial Fourier transform spectrometer (Bomem Inc.), we have recorded the absoption spectrum of the C2D2 molecule near the optical communication wavelength of 1550 nm. As for acetylene C2H2,1 this molecule shows about 50 evenly spaced absorption lines between 1511 nm and 1534 nm. On the other hand, 87Rb presents two resonances at 1529.261 nm and 1529.366 nm, resulting from transitions between excited states.2,3 We compare the characteristics of the absorption profile of C2D2 to that of 87Rb and C2H2 for the purpose of frequency locking of tunable semiconductor lasers.
