Temporal gain control in the retina

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

To study retinal gain control mechanisms we measured the relation between the amplitude of the flicker ERG and the modulation of the stimulus at different temporal frequencies. The stimuli were sinusoids or sums of sinusoids consisting of approximately equiluminant mixtures of 633 and 543 nm lights. Fundamental responses were extracted using a DFT. There are three main results.
