Excited-state absorption in the diatomic mercury halides

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A series of experiments, including laser excitation spectroscopy, laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and time-resolved absorption measurements, has been carried out in an effort to elucidate the nature of the Hgl, FlgBr, and HgCl electronic excited states lying 2-5 eV above the ion pair (B21/2+)state.
