Some special optical techniques in the TW laser facility

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The TW Nd: glass laser facility is the greatest laser system in China. Some special optics technique were developed for laser fusion and x-ray laser researches. One of them is adaptive optics equipments which consisted of deformable mirror and Hartmann wavefront sensor. They can detect and compensate laser beam aberrations induced by thermal distortion of amplifier and imperfections of the surfaces and materials. Another is lens array technique. It can provide a flat-top focal spot of diameter 400 pm and has been successfully used for high pressure shock wave experiments. A novel line focus system composed of an aspherical lens and a pair of cylinder lens arrays have been suggested for x-ray laser research. The length of the line focus is continuously variable by tuning the distance between the two cylinder lens arrays. The arrays can eliminate the nonuniformities induced by the incident beam. The focus lengths of element lenses are a little different from each other, so that the lengths of the sub-lines are random, this will further smooth the diffraction nonuniformity and enable to obtain a more uniform line.
