Photochemistry of metals and the role of hot-electron cascades

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

It has been experimentally observed that the surface photochemistry of chemisorbed molecular oxygen exhibits a dependence on photon energy characterized by a monotonous, exponential increase over the range from hv = 3.5 to 6.4 eV. Similar observations have also been made for other systems.
